The Childrenʼs Place in Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia is a home for orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children.
To provide a safe, loving environment for abandoned, and orphaned
children, as well as children who are in harmful family circumstances. We believe that
every child deserves a healthy, loving home. When family relationships are severed or
become disrupted, children are at risk physically and emotionally. For many of our
children, The Childrenʼs Place is the first and only loving environment they have known.
The goal of the Childrenʼs Place is to provide the love and care our children need so
that they can thrive in a family. In some instances it means that we provide a safe
haven for the child while working with the biological family so that the child can be
restored to a healthy home environment. In other instances that means helping the child
develop the ability to form healthy, loving relationships in an adoptive family.
Reaching the Light serves children with special needs and their families by providing developmental evaluation, therapy services, and parent training. We enable children with developmental disabilities to grow and develop while empowering families to participate in their children’s success.
We direct these services to families living in rural areas of Mongolia where this kind of help is currently unavailable. Our goal is to then
Finally, we establish satellite developmental centers where these children and their families can develop and flourish in their own communities. Reaching the Light Developmental Center provides on-going, consistent support to the rural satellite centers to ensure that each child……. each family receives the tools they need to reach their maximum potential.
To provide homeless young people, with food, clothing, character and life skills training, as well as an opportunity for basic education and education in technical skills. Our center is a haven for young people who have no home or whose homes are unsafe environments. We offer a daily meal, wholesome recreation, and teach daily life skills necessary to go to school or seek employment. As our young people progress in the program we provide support for them to receive training at technical schools. In this way, young people who have been caught in generational cycles of aimlessness and poverty are equipped for a brighter future!
Vulnerable children are those are at risk for a negative life outcome due to a variety of factors including poverty, abuse, or a general lack of safety in the home. Since most children go to school in shifts of about 4-5 hours each day, the amount of time they are potentially unsupervised and aimless can be lengthy. Our purpose is to provide a hot meal, after-school tutoring, and wholesome recreation for children who live in circumstances that put them at risk. We provide these children with the academic assistance they need to succeed in school, while helping them to develop healthy life skills, and boost their self-esteem.
